kids say the darnedest things
i love having kids around. they say whatever they want to say. here are some that i found really amusing. (these actually really happened...)
---------
my cousin da and her daughter tish were both in baguio. there, they rode a cab and out of the blue...
tish (seeing all the cabs): mommy, sa pilipinas ba may taxi rin?
tish probably thought that because they were wearing winter clothes, they were in the u.s. haha
----------
when a couple and their 2 kids went to the mall, they got out and discovered that their youngest was carrying something...
panganay: MAGNANAKAW! MAGNANAKAW!
-----------
my cousin and her then kid sister (who was probably 5 or six yrs. old, high school na sya ngayon) were at ATC, window shopping. after some time the kid sister probably got tired...

hindi ko na-experience mahatid ng parents sa 1st day nila sa school. my parents were busy then minding the canteen that they put up in one textile factory near us. laki ako sa lola (nung nursery, kinder lang naman). first day in school ko ganito ang drama:
mudra: ABA NAMAN MISS!
Whoo.
Mudra: Hoy! Bastos ka ah. Anak ko yang chini-cheer mo.
yan ang nanay ko. palaban.
3. the best cook in the whole wide world
5. very generous (aka galante)
6. very lenient
10. doting grandmama
spoiler ito. sobra. pag magm-mall kami, ang iniisip lagi nya, ano kaya ang mapapasalubong kay yohan. or tisha. or sofie. mga pamangkin ko yan.
11. life of the party
in other words, bangkera ang nanay ko. sa mga family gatherings at social gatherings. gusto lagi nila present ang nanay ko. kse ma-kwento.sobra. actually, dalawa sila na ganun. yung kakambal nya.
andami ko pa pwedeng masabi about my one and only nanay. kaya lang masakit na ang kamay ko kaka-type.
kulang ang isang gabi ng pagt-type para makwento ko ang mga nakakaaliw about her. all i know is, i haven't told her enough how much i love her and how much i appreciate everything that she's done for me (and my family). kumbaga, very thankful ako at sya ang nanay ko. kahit lagi kami nagkakasagutan nyan. at lagi ko sya nababara. (nasabi ko naman na may pagka-suwail akong anak di ba?) sabi nga nila ang asawa pwede mong piliin, ang pamilya hindi. pero, kung papipiliin ako, di na ako pipili pa ng iba. love you ma. so much. happy birthday!

What is your favorite type of art?
I'm not much of an art patron. So I have no favorites. It differs, depends on the mood I'm in.
Soup
When was the last time you got a free lunch (or breakfast or dinner)? Who paid for it?
Last weekend. We did a community program called "Gawad Kalinga". We helped build homes for some less fortunate ones. In exchange for a few hours of work (painting houses, mixing cement, etc.), our lunch was free. The company paid for it. The good thing was, after that outreach thingie, my boss invited a few of us over to her rest house and we had a few drinks plus some more food like sisig, pinaputok na tilapia, pinaputok na bangus, etc.

2 movies in a day
spent the day yesterday watching movies with my antuken. as soon as i got up, i texted him to ask what movie sked we'll be going to. we decided to go see the 2pm sked at atc. on the way there, he kept on kidding me that rouge assassin had bad reviews. but i didn't care. love ko si jet li at jason statham eh. hehehe.
before the movie started, i seriously told him that if it turns out that the movie really was a drag (according to my bro, mejo korni daw ending), isipin na lang nya na he had made me ultra happy kse i saw 2 of my faves in one movie! (hehe, he even laughed at me when i said this ---> serious mode kse when i did).
ganda na sana ng build-up talaga... pag dating sa ending, nyeehee... still i didn't care. saw them pa rin. after that we went a little window shopping. then we decided to go home.
last minute decision to watch the brave one. we were a little late for the 7pm screening ---> i don't watch movies that has started already, so we waited for the last full show (930pm)... hala, i think only a few calambeƱos appreciate movies of this genre, there were only a handful of us watching the last full show. but it was a nice movie. i can totally relate to jodie's fear of facing the world again after going through something she had.
up to now, i still have a little fear everytime i commute to and from work (esp. when i render OT at work and get home late), after 2 guys snatched my bag more than a year ago.
haay 2 movies in a day, no wonder i got up late today. okei lang. im on night shift this week! "

losing someone
i was watching a rush hour 3 (with jackie chan & chris tucker) last night when i got this text from Da (my cousin).
From redj: Im in pangasinan.Dino's gone. He was shot last wednesday.
Rush Hour 3 was a really hilarious movie. But when I got that text, I just stopped laughing. I immediately replied back to her and asked her for details and texted my very good friend Redj immediately. I was so frustrated for while I was waiting for the "sent" icon, my phone died. Low Batt. Grrr. I can't do anything about it but wait for the movie to end.
When I got home, I immediately charged my fone. After a while, I turned it on and texted my cousin again. I tried calling my friend Redj, but her fone cannot be reached.
We were all saddened about this news. I haven't seen Redj for a while and I know she's sooper devastated with this event. A few months back, she also lost her grandmother. And now this.
Way back when I was working in Manila, I stayed with Redj. She invited me to stay with her and it was for free. Dino would drop by sometimes and I remember me and my friends having fun listening to them talk in Panggalatok. They sounded German. Sometimes we also ribbed Redj about Dino's voice, for it was a little high-pitched. In tagalog it was 'matinis'.
I really feel for her loss. They were such a close-knit family. Dino was Redj's buddy/driver/mr. everything (aside from her youngest bro - Julius). And I'm sure she might still be in shock, right now.
I'll never really know how it feels to lose someone. I was too young when my lolo (grandfather) died. When my lola died when I was in high school, I was saddened, but I thought, that's where old people really go. But Dino was so young. He's not even in his 30s yet. His daughter's so young. He still had so much to live for. He was so kind. And such a gentleman. And so accomodating. And dying so young, and a gunshot in the head at that, I really can't understand. Maybe God has other plans for his family. But it really is such a tragic loss.

listen to what your parents say
it has been a stormy week. last friday i was supposed to go home right after work. but my crew on night shift told me the traffic going home was really terrible. so i decided to drop by my officemate's birthday party, which was a few minutes' walk away from the office. i thought, why waste time stuck in traffic for probably 2 hours, when i can have a little fun at the party --- which really is an inuman (people in a table sharing drinks).
food was sumptious (inihaw na liempo, inihaw na tilapia, etc ---- native delicacies which i think are a staple in any inuman). stories shared were really funny. one officemate volunteered to take me home, which i thought was nice. he said we'll go home in a couple of hours. after about an hour or a little more than that, he went missing. i thought he went home already. but i discovered he just had a nap.
the couple of hours stretched to 4 actually. i had a few beers, which was normal. then when it was time to go home, my officemate was there again. he said he would take me home. the others volunteered to convoy with us.
it really was a rainy night. the streets were all wet. but when it was time to go, the rain had stopped already. so there i rode with my officemate. we were just cruising actually. when we were almost near my house, there was this pick-up who sideswept us.
so there i was, enjoying the cool night. and all i could think of was: 'shiyet, i think this is my time!' you see, i was in a motorcycle (without a helmet, at that). i think i saw my world blurred. next thing i remember was my officemate hugging me and asking me if i was alright. and i really couldn't answer him immediately, for i haven't checked. after that, i did. and i thought everything was alright with me. but i checked with him and i saw his leg was bruised and so was one of his hands. good thing the only thing that was hurt during that accident was my bag (which can be easily replaced). one of my officemates ran after the pick-up actually, but he didn't catch up with it.
so we continued on home. when we got there, our house was submerged in water (due to the nonstop rains last week). what else could we do? i invited them over for a cup of our famous kapeng barako. i was so sorry that i allowed them to bring me home. all the time after the incident, i was thinking it would never've happened if i just went home alone and rode the public utility vehicle ----the jeepney. i kept saying sorry to them. but they said they should be the one saying sorry.
imagine we were really in a cruising speed that night, really slow (probably around 30 kph). we all ended up thinking that no matter how careful a driver you are, you can never be sure of your safety in the road.
when i went inside, my mom was still awake. i told her about the incident. and she told me again (for the nth time) not to ride on motorcycles. esp. without a helmet on. i told her, from now on, i won't (learning the hard way, huh). before going to bed, i really thanked the lord (which i seldom do), for keeping me unharmed during that accident.
the day after, my body was really sore, probably from the fall. and i discovered i had a very very minor bruise on my waist. but then again, im thankful that was all i got.
eversince i was of age to go riding on motorcycles, my mom always forbid me to ride one. when i was in college, and she learned i hitched with my friend on his bike, she would scold me. i guess it stems from her cousin who was killed in a motorbike accident (with a bus, i think). i'd always thought she was over reacting. but maybe it was simply maternal. no mom would want their kids harmed really. i'm just really sorry i didn't listen to her. and thankful also that the learning experience didn't result to any major harm (on my part).

2. 40s/50s/60s music
3. Your parents
Three things you should never listen to
1. What other people say ---- if you always think about waht other people will say whenever you do anything, you won't end up happy

3. Someone else's conversation

die hard 4.0
the movie, as expected, was action packed... i just hope the other moviegoers weren't bothered with me, telling my disabled brother, what was happening on the big screen (although i wasn't doing it the whole time)...
after the movie, we went to the supermarket and bought some stuff then had dinner at H cafe... the food was great... what a nice ending to a nice day!

thanks for lunch grant!
my immediate boss isn't around today, she's down with fever that's why i'm manning the "ship"... earlier today our plant manager came by my station and asked me how my weekend went... i told him and then after a while he left... at around 10am though, he came back and asked me if i wanted to eat out (we only have a 30-minute lunchbreak so we almost never eat out during lunch hour---make that lunch half hour--- hehe) --- i immediately asked if it was on him and he said yes... so i said i'd love to go with him (and my other officemates)...
we ate at north park - canlubang --- about 5 mins away from my office... but the funny thing was... everything we wanted to order they were saying: "i'm sorry but it's not available"... grant (that's my aussie plant manager) was saying we should ask the manager what their mission statement was (haha)... and that we should demand for free dessert!
there were 10 of us there and we really had a sumptious meal... wish i'd taken photos though... one officemate even commented that it was the first time that we had lunch-out that all the plates were emptied... that we didn't bring home any leftovers... i guess all of us were really very hungry...
i'd like to thank grant for that wonderful lunch... hope that won't be the last one! (i think that lunch was a bad idea --- the majrsleepyhead's having another attack----arrrggghhh)

transformers in a crowded cinema
i watched transformers yesterday with my 'antuken'... the movie was nice but the cinema wasn't... there were just too many people inside it... we also had to sit about 5 rows from the front (what a drag)... major booboo was the slippers i was wearing chose to bust its strap the moment i got off the car... good thing the movie was nice... me and my antuken had a good laugh at it... although it was a lot different from the transformers i grew up with... i remember when i was a kid, i used to watch the cartoons with my big brothers... after that, we had japanese food for dinner... i ordered tempura while my antuken had a bento box of pork something (not sure what it was, it sure didn't taste like teriyaki but it looks like that)... then we went home after that...
we talked for about two hours before he left to go home (actually i slept while he watched and i would wake and we'd talk, then i fell asleep again)--- i had an early day at work today...
